Career Prospects
Graduates can pursue a career as a performer, musicologist, theorist, composer, event manager or conductor of music.
With a background in creative media, graduates can work behind the scenes as directors, producers, cinematographers, editors, or in various technical roles within the film and television industry.
A graduate has the opportunity to work as Educators in schools, colleges, community centers and private institutions teaching Music and Media.
Music and creative media skills can be valuable in advertising, where graduates can work as creative directors, copywriters, or in production and promotion of commercials and marketing materials.
Application Process
Applicants may apply for the programme from 8th December 2023. applications will be available online on the University website till the date applications will officially close.
Applications for each programme will close approximately a week before the scheduled selection process.
All applicants must visit the page: https://appstat.christuniversity.in and register by entering NAME (as printed on Class 10 Marks Card), EMAIL-ID, and set a password. (The email id and mobile number provided will be used for sending confirmation and application status-update messages). An applicant can apply for as many programmes using the same ID as long as the prescribed eligibility criteria for the specific programme is fulfilled.
Applicants must have the following documents prior to fill the application online:
- Copy of statement of marks of Class 10, Class 12, and Degree Marks Cards (whichever is available years’/semesters marks card) (Mandatory).
- Applicants applying For PGDIE Programme must have a Copy of statement of marks of Class 10, Class 12, Degree Marks Cards, BEd Marks Card and work experience letter (Joining Letter) if applying with work experience (Mandatory).
- Fill-in all the details in the “detailed application” page. Scan and upload a recent passport-size photograph (3.5 cms x 4.5 cms formal dress with white background) and click “Submit”. On clicking Submit, a viewable and editable page will appear on the screen. In case you need to make any corrections; you may edit the data/details and then click “Confirm Submission”.
- Make payment using the Card/UPI/Net Banking and after successful payment click on submit. A 9 (Nine) digit Application number will be generated. If unable to print the application form due to system/power/internet failure, log on to https://appstat.christuniversity.in, under the “Application Status” page enter the registered Email-ID and password to view and print the application form.

(After payment if you do not receive the 9 (Nine) digit application number, then your application process is incomplete, and payment will go in for refund process. The refund will take about 15 working days and must be checked with your bank).

Candidates without the above pre-qualifications will have to enroll either for

Selection process results will be available on https://appstat.christuniversity.in Selected candidates will receive an E-Offer of admission. The offer will be valid upto the date mentioned in the Offer of admission. All selected candidates must note that admission is provisional and subject to University rules. Selected candidates must download the offer of admission on the ‘Application Status’ link on the University website.

An undertaking for pending original documents unavailable currently [applicable only for candidates writing/passing their exam in March – May – 2024], must be submitted to the Office of Admissions. These documents must be submitted on or before 20 September 2024.
Failure to submit the pending documents will be treated as unsuccessful in the qualifying examination or considered “Not Eligible” and admission will be terminated from CHRIST (Deemed to be University) without any claim.
All admitted students must open an account at South Indian Bank, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Branch as part of the admission process and must carry relevant ID proof (Aadhar Card and Pan Card).
The University ID card is a smart card, which is both an ID cum ATM card with a chip containing the student personal details. All transactions within the University campus after the commencement of classes, including fee payment, will be processed only through this card. It is also an access card for Library and other restricted places.
Selected candidates who fall under International student category (ISC) should register with the Foreigner Regional Registration Officer (FRRO / FRO) of the Local Police in Bengaluru, India within 14 working days from the date of admission or arriving in Bengaluru.
The date of commencement of the academic Year 2024 will be intimated during the admission process.

Candidates are to state the sentence “This recording is for my 2025 audition for [name of programme applied] at CHRIST university. I will be performing [introduce your piece name and composer]” -
If two separate recordings are made, this introductory sentence is to be repeated at the beginning of the second recording. -
Ideally these pieces must be contrasting in styles (to display both technical and emotional abilities). -
An individual piece is to be roughly 2-5 minutes in length as a minimum. No repeats within a piece are necessary. -
The camera should be pointed in a way to show the performer (and Piano / keyboard if applying) clearly. -
Ensure that the audio quality is sufficiently audible, and that your audition is recorded in one take. No editing of the video or the audio is allowed. -
Posture and technique will be considered when watching your video. -
Please refer to the sample repertoire mentioned below for voice and piano.

Therefore, the audition videos will be accepted for voice OR piano only, and NOT for any other instruments. -

Once recorded, the candidate is to upload their video to either Google Drive or YouTube with access and/or external viewing enabled so faculty can watch the recording. -
During the interview with the department of music, each candidate will be asked to undertake some basic musical aural tests such as imitating rhythms and melodies; and will be interviewed based on their professionalism, attitude, academic and musical experiences.
Guidelines for Vocal auditions:
Submit a performance of two vocal works:
• One of the vocalizes of Vaccai (any of the list of choice – Intervals of Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth)
• Any simple Arias / Art songs.

Guidelines for Piano auditions:
• Ideally any 2 Western classical piano pieces of the candidates choice.
• Sample list of composers: J.S. Bach, D. Scarlatti, Beethoven, Mozart, Haydn, Chopin, Liszt, Robert Schumann, Franz Schubert, Debussy, Ravel, Satie, to name a few.
- The candidate is free to choose piano works by any of the western classical composers of their choice. The list above is only for reference.
• It is preferred that applicants to the programme have at least some experience in reading western notation.

1. Read western music notation in treble and bass clefs.
2. Scribe western music notation with accuracy.
3. Name notes of all major; natural, harmonic and melodic minor scales.
4. Identify diatonic intervals and triads aurally. (Preferred)

During the interview with the department of music, each candidate will be asked to undertake some basic musical aural tests such as imitating rhythms and melodies; and will be interviewed based on their professionalism, attitude, academic and musical experiences.

Submit a performance of two vocal works:
• One of the vocalizes of Vaccai (any of the list of choice – Intervals of Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth)

Guidelines for Piano auditions:
• Ideally any 2 Western classical piano pieces of the candidates choice.
• Sample list of composers: J.S. Bach, D. Scarlatti, Beethoven, Mozart, Haydn, Chopin, Liszt, Robert Schumann, Franz Schubert, Debussy, Ravel, Satie, to name a few.
- The candidate is free to choose piano works by any of the western classical composers of their choice. The list above is only for reference.
• It is preferred that applicants to the programme have at least some experience in reading western notation.
Prerequisite Musical Knowledge
1. Read western music notation in treble and bass clefs.
2. Scribe western music notation with accuracy.
3. Name notes of all major; natural, harmonic and melodic minor scales.
4. Identify diatonic intervals and triads aurally. (Preferred)

Graduates can pursue a career as a performer, musicologist, theorist, composer, event manager or conductor of music.With a background in creative media, graduates can work behind the scenes as directors, producers, cinematographers, editors, or in various technical roles within the film and television industry.A graduate has the opportunity to work as Educators in schools, colleges, community centers and private institutions teaching Music and Media.Music and creative media skills can be valuable in advertising, where graduates can work as creative directors, copywriters, or in production and promotion of commercials and marketing materials.

Applicants may apply for the programme from 8th December 2023. applications will be available online on the University website till the date applications will officially close.
Applications for each programme will close approximately a week before the scheduled selection process.
All applicants must visit the page: https://appstat.christuniversity.in and register by entering NAME (as printed on Class 10 Marks Card), EMAIL-ID, and set a password. (The email id and mobile number provided will be used for sending confirmation and application status-update messages). An applicant can apply for as many programmes using the same ID as long as the prescribed eligibility criteria for the specific programme is fulfilled.
Applicants must have the following documents prior to fill the application online:
- Copy of statement of marks of Class 10, Class 12, and Degree Marks Cards (whichever is available years’/semesters marks card) (Mandatory).
- Applicants applying For PGDIE Programme must have a Copy of statement of marks of Class 10, Class 12, Degree Marks Cards, BEd Marks Card and work experience letter (Joining Letter) if applying with work experience (Mandatory).
- Fill-in all the details in the “detailed application” page. Scan and upload a recent passport-size photograph (3.5 cms x 4.5 cms formal dress with white background) and click “Submit”. On clicking Submit, a viewable and editable page will appear on the screen. In case you need to make any corrections; you may edit the data/details and then click “Confirm Submission”.
- Make payment using the Card/UPI/Net Banking and after successful payment click on submit. A 9 (Nine) digit Application number will be generated. If unable to print the application form due to system/power/internet failure, log on to https://appstat.christuniversity.in, under the “Application Status” page enter the registered Email-ID and password to view and print the application form.

Failure to submit the pending documents will be treated as unsuccessful in the qualifying examination or considered “Not Eligible” and admission will be terminated from CHRIST (Deemed to be University) without any claim.
All admitted students must open an account at South Indian Bank, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Branch as part of the admission process and must carry relevant ID proof (Aadhar Card and Pan Card).
The University ID card is a smart card, which is both an ID cum ATM card with a chip containing the student personal details. All transactions within the University campus after the commencement of classes, including fee payment, will be processed only through this card. It is also an access card for Library and other restricted places.
Selected candidates who fall under International student category (ISC) should register with the Foreigner Regional Registration Officer (FRRO / FRO) of the Local Police in Bengaluru, India within 14 working days from the date of admission or arriving in Bengaluru.
The date of commencement of the academic Year 2024 will be intimated during the admission process.

The University shall allot the seat to the selected MBA (Central/Kengeri) candidate in the Bangalore Central campus or Kengeri campus based on the availability of seats. -
All selected candidates must note that admission is provisional and subject to University rules. -
It is to be noted that though the fee is fixed for 2 years, there will be a periodic nominal increase to meet the rise in costs. -

Eligibility for the programme is a pass at the +2 level (Karnataka PUC / ISC / CBSE / NIOS / State Boards) in any stream (Humanities, Social Sciences, Commerce & Management, Sciences) from any recognised Board in India. -
Candidates writing the +2 examinations in March-May 2025 may apply with their class X and XI marks.

2. The Department of Western Music, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) currently offers practical specialisation only in Voice and Piano. Thus, we only accept candidates who are willing to specialise in either voice OR piano. Please note the guidelines below:
• Before attending the LIVE auditions and offline interview at the university, the candidate is to record a video of themselves performing TWO contrasting pieces: preferably from the western art traditions one technique-focused, another musicality-focused, according to the following guidelines:

Candidates are to state the sentence “This recording is for my 2025 audition for [name of programme applied] at CHRIST university. I will be performing [introduce your piece name and composer]” -
If two separate recordings are made, this introductory sentence is to be repeated at the beginning of the second recording. -
Ideally these pieces must be contrasting in styles (to display both technical and emotional abilities). -
An individual piece is to be roughly 2-5 minutes in length as a minimum. No repeats within a piece are necessary. -
The camera should be pointed in a way to show the performer (and Piano / keyboard if applying) clearly. -
Ensure that the audio quality is sufficiently audible, and that your audition is recorded in one take. No editing of the video or the audio is allowed. -

# The fee for Karnataka domicile students, as indicated in the table, is the actual fee payable and excludes the scholarship amount.
It is to be noted that though the fee is fixed for four years, there may be a periodic nominal increase to meet the rise in costs.

NRI fee is applicable for the first year for candidates who have studied foreign syllabus (has to be approved by UGC / AIU) in the qualifying examination of study in India. In subsequent years Other Indian States fee will be applicable.
(The above condition is not applicable to NRI and candidates applied under NRI Category).

NRI fee is applicable for the full duration of the Programme for candidates who:
- Have pursued and completed their last qualifying exam from outside India.
- Are NRI and candidates who have applied under the NRI category.

To claim the Indian category fee, the candidates should have studied last 7 years in India. (Not applicable for OCI, PIO and Foreign Nationals). -
Admission registration fee of INR 5000/- (US $80 for foreign nationals/PIO/OCI) is non-refundable in the event of cancellation of admission. This fee will be apart from cancellation charges if any applicable. -
All Candidates If “Selected” after appearing for the final selection process, the fee may be paid through the following option: Payment can be made through Net banking / NEFT / RTGS Payment / Transfer of fees does not guarantee admission.

Eligibility for the programme is a pass at the +2 level (Karnataka PUC / ISC / CBSE / NIOS / State Boards) in any stream (Humanities, Social Sciences, Commerce & Management, Sciences) from any recognised Board in India. -
Candidates writing the +2 examinations in March-May 2024 may apply with their class X and XI marks.
Students pursuing International curriculum must note that eligibility is according to AIU stipulations:

Applicants pursuing IB curriculum must have 3 HL and 3 SL with 24 credits. -
Applicants pursuing GCE / Edexcel must have a minimum of 3 A levels with a grade not less than C. -

AUDITION GUIDELINES:
1. Apply as per guidelines stipulated to get the E-admit card
2. The Department of Western Music, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) currently offers practical specialisation only in Voice and Piano. Thus, we only accept candidates who are willing to specialise in either voice OR piano. Please note the guidelines below:
• Before attending the LIVE auditions and offline interview at the university, the candidate is to record a video of themselves performing TWO contrasting pieces: preferably from the western art traditions one technique-focused, another musicality-focused, according to the following guidelines:
All original marks cards and one set of photocopies must be submitted for verification at the time of admission as mentioned below,

Candidates are to state the sentence “This recording is for my 2024 audition for [name of programme applied] at CHRIST university. I will be performing [introduce your piece name and composer]” -
If two separate recordings are made, this introductory sentence is to be repeated at the beginning of the second recording. -
Ideally these pieces must be contrasting in styles (to display both technical and emotional abilities). -
An individual piece is to be roughly 2-5 minutes in length as a minimum. No repeats within a piece are necessary. -
The camera should be pointed in a way to show the performer (and Piano / keyboard if applying) clearly. -
Ensure that the audio quality is sufficiently audible, and that your audition is recorded in one take. No editing of the video or the audio is allowed. -
Posture and technique will be considered when watching your video. -

Therefore, the audition videos will be accepted for voice OR piano only, and NOT for any other instruments. -
Also, The student can either opt to specialise in Voice OR Piano. NOT BOTH. - Candidate is to email a link to their recorded video to music.admissions@christuniversity.in by at least THREE days BEFORE the date of their interview, otherwise your interview will be forfeited.

Once recorded, the candidate is to upload their video to either Google Drive or YouTube with access and/or external viewing enabled so faculty can watch the recording. -
During the interview with the department of music, each candidate will be asked to undertake some basic musical aural tests such as imitating rhythms and melodies; and will be interviewed based on their professionalism, attitude, academic and musical experiences.
